It is not recommended that you use this value unless you need to retain backwards compatibility with pre-SONAR 8.5.2 projects that use a non-default pan law. When the value is 1, pan laws are applied at the clip level. I have contacted Roland support but so far haven't heard anything.
SONAR 8.5 HOW TO OVERRIDE PAN CONTROLLER DRIVERS
I have tried a factory reset, as well as uninstalling the drivers and Logic Control Map, and then reinstalling, however the same problem persists. Clip pan envelopes always use the 0dB center sin/cos taper law. So instead of map 19 reading Unassigned or User Assign, it now reads Sonar ACT map 2. When the value is 0 (default), non-default pan laws are not applied at the clip level. You can now trigger Gestures from a MIDI controller routed through this channel, or by using the Piano Roll editor in Pro Tools to manually add notes. You will see Stutter Edit in the list if it is on any of your Pro Tools channels. This variable should set in the section, for example: Assign the Output of the MIDI channel to Stutter Edit. To address backwards compatibility with projects that were mixed in previous versions of SONAR, the following AUD.ini variable is available to set the pan law compatibility mode:

other than "0 dB center sin/cos taper"), the mix might sound louder in SONAR 8.5.2.

If you have existing projects that use a non-default pan law (i.e.

Any clip pan envelopes will continue to work, but behave strictly as a balance control. In SONAR 8.5.2 and later, pan laws are only applied once at the track level and only for mono tracks. Pan Law compatibility modeWhen using a non-default pan law with floating or 24-bit audio, SONAR would previously apply the pan law twice once at the clip level and once more at the track level.
